Who we are
The controller of the personal data described here is Globalstrand S.R.L., a limited liability company registered in the Republic of Moldova, with its studio and registered office at str. Uzinelor 19, east wing, MD-2023 Chișinău. You can reach us by post at that address, by email at [email protected], or by phone on +373 22 47 06 18, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 19:00.
The person responsible for data protection questions inside the company is our head of production. Write to the address above and mark the message for her attention; she replies personally.
Applicable law
We process personal data in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova on personal data protection, in particular Law No. 133 of 8 July 2011 on personal data protection, and Law No. 195/2024 on personal data protection from the date its provisions apply. Where we work for clients established in the European Union, we also take account of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) to the extent it applies to that client's processing.
This website is a static site. It has no contact form, no user accounts and no analytics. When you contact us you do so by email or phone, using your own mail program or phone.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to plan, run and invoice a production. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Contact details you send us: name, company, role, email address, phone number.
- The content of a brief and any attachments, such as references, scripts or storyboards, which may themselves contain personal data.
- Billing details for invoicing: company name, fiscal code (IDNO), address, bank details, and for individuals the details required by Moldovan tax rules.
- For crew and freelancers: name, contact details, role, rates, availability and, where needed for payment, identity and bank details.
- For people in front of the camera: name, contact details, image and voice, and the terms of their release or model agreement.
- For location owners and building associations: name, contact details, address of the location and the terms agreed.
- For visitors to the studio: name and vehicle plate number, given to the guard at the gate of Uzinelor 19 for the day of the visit.
Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. We do not combine these logs with any other data.
Why and on what basis
- To answer a brief, prepare an estimate and plan a shoot: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and the performance of that contract.
- To issue invoices, keep accounting records and meet tax obligations: compliance with a legal obligation under Moldovan fiscal and accounting law.
- To use images and recordings of people on set for the agreed purpose: the release or contract signed by that person, or their consent where that is the basis.
- To keep the building and equipment secure, including the visitor list at the gate: our legitimate interest in protecting people and property.
- To show finished work in our portfolio: the agreement of the client, and where a person is identifiable, the scope of their release.
We do not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send newsletters.
People on set
Everyone who appears identifiably in material we shoot signs a release before the camera rolls, in Romanian, Russian or English. The release states who the client is, where the material will be used, for how long and in which territories. A copy is given to the person and another is kept with the production file.
For minors, the release is signed by a parent or legal guardian who is present on set for the whole time the minor is working.
When we photograph in public places in Chișinău, such as markets and streets, we avoid identifiable passers-by in published frames unless they have agreed, and we remove frames on request.
Who we share with
We share personal data only as far as a production requires:
- with the client for whom the shoot is made, including call sheets and releases;
- with crew members who need the call sheet to do their job;
- with the Primăria municipiului Chișinău, local mayoralties and the police, when a permit requires names or vehicle numbers;
- with our accountant, bank and the State Tax Service, for invoicing and tax;
- with our insurer, if an incident on set needs to be reported;
- with our email and file storage providers, who process data on our behalf under written terms.
We do not sell personal data and do not give it to anyone for their own marketing.
Transfers abroad
Some clients are based in Romania and elsewhere in the European Union, and some of our service providers store data on servers outside Moldova. When personal data leaves the Republic of Moldova we make sure the destination offers an adequate level of protection under Moldovan law, or we rely on contractual safeguards as permitted by that law.
How long we keep it
- Briefs that do not become a job: twelve months from the last message, then deleted.
- Production files, call sheets and releases: for the period of use granted in the release, plus three years.
- Accounting documents: for the period required by Moldovan accounting law.
- Raw image and video files: eighteen months after delivery unless the client asks for longer storage under a separate agreement.
- Visitor lists at the gate: thirty days.
- Server logs at our host: no more than ninety days.
How we protect it
Production files are kept on encrypted drives in a locked room on the second floor of Uzinelor 19, with an off-site encrypted backup. Access to shared folders is limited to the people working on that job and removed when the job closes. Paper releases are kept in a locked cabinet. Call sheets sent by email include only the details crew need to reach the set.
Your rights
Under the law of the Republic of Moldova you have the right to be informed about the processing of your data, to access it, to have it corrected, to have it erased or blocked where processing is not lawful, to object to processing, and not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing. Where the newer law applies, you also have the right to restriction of processing and to data portability.
To use any of these rights, write to [email protected] or to our address. We answer within the time limits set by law, and in any case within thirty days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we disclose anything.
If you agreed to a release and now want your image withdrawn, tell us. We will remove it from our portfolio straight away and pass the request to the client; what the client may continue to do depends on the release you signed.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first; most things can be fixed with a phone call. You also have the right to complain to the National Center for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Moldova, str. Serghei Lazo 48, Chișinău, and to go to court.
Changes
We update this policy when the way we work changes or the law does. The date at the top shows the current version. Significant changes affecting ongoing productions are sent to the people involved by email.
